三国时期，李时珍在《本草纲目》中对曼陀罗有如下记载：“八月采此花，七月采火麻子花，阴干，等分为末，热酒调服三钱，少顷昏昏如醉割疮灸火，先宜服此不觉痛也。” ，如宋代司马光在《涑水记闻》中载：“五溪蛮反，杞以金 帛、官爵诱出之，因为设宴，饮以曼 陀罗酒，昏醉，尽杀之。”这都强调了曼陀罗花作为蒙汗药有麻醉作用。
曼陀罗花（学名：Datura stramonium，英语：Thorn apple）
是茄科類曼陀羅屬植物，又名醉心花,醉仙桃,疯茄儿,南洋金花,洋大麻子，山茄子、
、朝鮮牽牛花,洋金花,大喇叭花,山茄子.果实名为：狗核桃、毛苹果
归经归肝；脾经
可止咳，行血，平喘，化痰，麻醉，祛风止痛；用于慢性气管炎，风湿痹痛，跌打伤痛，跌打伤，蛇伤，疔疮，胃痛等症。
曼陀罗根的功效与作用
功能主治
镇咳；止痛；拔脓。主喘咳；风湿痹痛；疖癣；恶疮；狂犬咬伤。
用法用量
内服：煎汤，0．9-1．5g。外用：适量，煎水熏洗；或研末调涂。
日常用量：叶0.3～0.8g；干花0.2～0.4g，切碎和烟丝共卷成烟，燃烧吸。
曼陀罗花外表美丽，却有剧毒。曼陀罗性属阴寒,其花、叶、汁液具兴奋神经中枢的作用，味涩,其汁液提练之花油味淡,细嗅不易察觉,但却常在无意时嗅之清香,可用于香炉熏香之用（适量可提神,过多亦会中毒)。 因其花汁有兴奋神经中枢的作用,故吞食可产生兴奋作用,并可出现幻觉。若误食过量可致神经中枢过度兴奋而突然逆转为抑制作用，使机体机能骤降,常致死亡。
曼陀罗的根、茎、叶、果实均有毒。误食后半小时至一小时即可完全吸收，表现为口舌干、皮肤潮红、干燥，瞳孔散大，心跳过速，极度烦躁不安、多语、幻觉、昏迷、惊厥，最后死于呼吸衰竭。
那么曼陀罗花中毒后会有哪些症状表现呢？临床表现和潜伏期：常于食后半小时至1小时出现症状，为副交感神经系统的抑制和中枢神经系统的兴奋，与阿托品中毒症状相似，有口干、吞咽困难、声音嘶哑、皮肤干燥、潮红、发热，心跳增快、呼吸加深、血压升高、头痛、头晕、烦躁不安、谵妄、幻听幻视、神志模糊、哭笑无常、肌肉抽搐、共济失调或出现阵发性抽搐及痉挛。此外，尚有体温升高、便秘、散瞳及膝反射亢进。以上症状多在24小时内消失或基本消失，严重者在12～24小时后进入昏睡、痉挛、紫绀、最后昏迷死亡。不仅仅是人类会中毒，即使是家畜食用了曼陀罗花也会导致中毒，以猫最敏感，牛、马次之，绵羊和兔耐受性最强。

1、曼陀羅中毒
組成：鮮白茅根56.3克 鮮甘蔗487.5克 椰子1個
用法：先將白茅根及甘蔗用冷開水洗淨，搗爛，榨取自然汁，加入椰子水煎服。
用法：水8碗煎3碗，過濾去渣，頻頻服之。
2、疔瘡（外用方）
組成：鮮曼陀羅3個
用法：搗爛，外敷疔瘡處。
3、跌打損傷
組成：曼陀羅種子0.4～0.8克 米酒150.0毫升
用法：將曼陀羅種子浸泡在米酒中，需要時每次服5.0?8.0毫升，切勿過量多服，以免引起中毒。也可請教中醫師後再用。
組成：幹曼陀羅0.3克 薄荷葉5.0克
用法：切成絲狀，然後捲成煙卷，點燃，當煙吸。 1日1～2次，兒童禁用。

➡ Caranya : Menggunakan serbuk buah yang telah kering.
2. Untuk rawatañ masalah asma.
➡ Caranya : Ambil 10 helai daun kemudian hiris halus dan jemur hingga kering. Apabila kering, ia perlu dijadikan seperti rokok dengan membungkus dalam kulit jagung atau kertas putih.
3. Untuk penyakit resdung.
➡ Caranya : Jemur biji kecubung lebih kurang 3 hari hingga nampak kering. Ambil tempurung buah yang telah dibelah dua, dikering dan dibersihkan. Tebuk lubang kecil di atasnya untuk dimasukkan hujung batang buluh seperti straw pada permukaan lubang tersebut. Pastikan buluh betul2 muat pada lubang yang ditebuk, dan hidu.
4. Untuk rawatan sakit pinggang dan sengal-sengal badan.
➡ Caranya : Ambil 4 helai daun kecubung dan kemudian campur dengan kapur sirih secukupnya. Tumbuk hingga lumat dan sapukan pada bahagian yang sengal atau sakit.
